Good Kill Hunting

Matt Damon's cousin George hired "America's Jack the Ripper" to kill prostitute Carrie Brown and an African immigrant went to jail for it.

This guy, George Damon, hired the killer to supposedly work for him on his property. But George never told anyone about him and he hid the incriminating evidence that linked him to the murder. Then, when they found out about it, he told lies about the hired man, about who he was and where he picked him up.

Before I show you why George Damon is guilty, I'll show you how he's related:

I looked into George Damon's background on Ancestry Family Trees and found out he was the great grandson of a Minuteman - Ebenezer Damon (1737-1812). Then I found out that George Damon might be related to Matt Damon through g. grandfather Ebenezer Damon.

The original post about on this genealogy thread is about Matt Damon's revolutionary war ancestor, Matthew Paige Damon. The first reply was about George Damon's great grandfather. That wasn’t the link though.

Then I looked at the male line which you would be looking at as you follow the name. I didn't see any shared ancestor right away. But I happened to notice that Ebenezer's mother's side had Damons too on Wikitree. So I went out on a limb on that branch, so to speak.

I was “reaching” because it was George Damon’s Minuteman ancestor’s mother’s side where you’d least suspect to find a common ancestor with the paternal name Damon. I found it there on that branch and then I was able to find it also on the paternal side

Wikitree doesn't go back as far as Geneanet but it looks like the male line of Ebenezer Damon would have the same shared ancestor from the 16th Century if correct. I missed it the first time.

So George Damon is definitely related to actor Matt Damon through a revolutionary Minuteman, going back to the 1500s. So I'd say they're around 10th cousins, a couple of times removed, but related on two branches so somewhat more closely related.

Next we'll talk about George Damon's unexplained amnesia regarding his hired hand....
