Now that we've established Matt Damon's familial connection to the 1891 Carrie Brown Murder, it's interesting to note that he was slated to play H. H. Holmes in Martin Scorsese's movie Devil In The White City, and Holmes was and is considered by "some" a Jack the Ripper suspect and, by extension, an "American Ripper" and Carrie Brown suspect.
I know that's a stretch of a coincidence since H. H. Holmes was neither Jack the Ripper nor a real candidate in Carrie Brown's murder. (She was killed by a Swedish sailor hired by NY businessman, George Damon. But the issue here is that H. H. Holmes is a real murderer and a real serial killer. He was also a medical student from a wealthy family. Who cares if he wasn't Jack the Ripper or the man who killed Carrie?
Why does he have to be a contemporary police suspect for Jack the Ripper in order to be relevant in a Ripper discussion? That approach is ridiculous. Why study police suspects like Aaron Kosminski or Francis Tumblety when you can study real prostitute killers like George Damon and Rex Heuermann?
The police suspects are a Polish immigrant and an Irish homosexual. Ameer Ben Ali was an Algerian immigrant. The real killers are a homegrown, heterosexual businessman who's an architect and the other is a homegrown, heterosexual businessman in the print business. Start from there!
